SUGAR PRODUCTION PROCESS

1. Raw Material Procurement and Cleaning

Sugar beets or sugarcane are sourced and cleaned to remove dirt, stones, and debris.

Cleaning is done using water sprays and mechanical scrubbers.

2. Extraction

The cleaned raw material is sliced into thin strips (cossettes) and soaked in hot water to extract sugar.

A diffusion process helps separate the sugar from the plant material.

3. Purification

The extracted juice contains impurities and is purified using lime (calcium hydroxide) and carbon dioxide.

This process helps remove non-sugar components.

4. Evaporation and Crystallization

The purified juice is concentrated by evaporating excess water.

The thick syrup is crystallized by cooling and seeding with fine sugar crystals.

5. Centrifugation and Drying

The sugar crystals are separated from the syrup using centrifuges.

The crystals are dried with warm air to achieve the final texture.

6. Filtration and Quality Control

The final product is filtered to remove any remaining impurities.

Quality tests ensure proper color, purity, and moisture content.

7. Packaging and Distribution

The sugar is packaged in bags, boxes, or bulk containers for transportation.

The final product undergoes labeling and is shipped to markets.
